Homework & Valentine's Day

Next week, homework will be a little bit different. There will be no homework packet. Your child will still need to complete 3 spelling activities. In addition to the spelling, your child needs to create a Valentine's Box for Valentine's Day. A shoe box or a cereal box works great. Please read the pink note that will be coming home later this week for more information.

If you would like to volunteer or donate, please send the bottom portion of the note back to school.

Kite Festival

It is once again time for the annual kite festival! Students need to track their reading on the green paper that they received in order to earn a free kite to fly at the festival. First grade students must read at lease 650 minutes before the event April 21st to qualify. Any home reading time can count so start tallying up those minutes!

Read Like A Star!

Students should be at least half way to achieving their goal of reading 3500 minutes for our "Read Like A Star" incentive program. Make sure that your child reads a minimum of 20 minutes each and every day. Also, be sure to record it on their orange bookmark and turn it in with your student's homework, making sure their whole name is written on it along with their teacher's name. We want to see lots of happy first graders walking the red carpet in May as they enter the movie theater. Remember--READ LIKE A STAR!
