Have you filled a bucket today?

Today our school counselor, Mr. Andrus, came into all of the 1st grade classes to teach the students about 'filling other people's imaginary bucket'. Ask your child to tell you what they learned.

Bucket Fillers...

This week we are going to talking about being "bucket fillers"!  This lessons is derived from this awesome book called "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?" It explains to the children in simple terms that everyday all day long we are walking around with an invisible bucket over our head.  When people are uplifting and say POSITIVE things to others it fills our bucket and theirs.  When we say NEGATIVE things it dips from our bucket and theirs.  We are encouraging our students to be bucket fillers.  If you get a chance please talk to your child about this special lesson and perhaps check this book out from the library to read at home!

Recess

We had a great 1st day! Please help your child to practice bringing their homework folder to and from school. Also, please remind your child that they need to walk around the outside of the building in the morning before school starts rather than coming through the hallways.

More pictures to come when we get all of our photo releases signed and turned in.

Thank you to those of you that attended Back to School Night! If you were not able to attend, the handouts and forms should be coming home in your child's homework folder on the 1st day.
Please sign and return the following forms:
*  Take Home Library Permission Slip

There was also a sign up sheet for snack and volunteering. If you are able to donate snacks, please contact your child's teacher to sign up for a month. Also, if you would like to volunteer, please contact them.

The PTA is requesting that each family participate in the 3 for Me Volunteering Program. This program requests that each child in the the school has one adult commit to volunteering for a total of 3 hours throughout the school year.
